The inspiration for this piece came from the Bagnold dunes of Mars. Made from clay (large dunes) and latex (smaller dunes) topped in crushed stone with black iron oxide. I plan to do a larger version using all clay and to refine the smaller dunes with no iron oxide, as the piece is a bit dark, but has a sparkle when hit with light.
