The Bagnold Dunes Of Mars
The inspiration for this piece came from the Bagnold dunes of Mars. Made from clay (large dunes) and latex (smaller dunes) topped in crushed stone with black iron oxide. I plan to do a larger version using all clay and to refine the smaller dunes with no iron oxide, as the piece is a bit dark, but has a sparkle when hit with light.
Visited by the Curiosity rover in 2015.
Size: 13 3/4 inches sq. x 1 3/8 inches deep.
